What personal data we handle, and why

Business listings

Listings describe businesses, but where a business is a sole trader or partnership its name, phone number and address are personal data. We publish this information either because the business submitted it to us (basis: the steps needed to provide the listing they asked for) or because it is already published by the business itself — on its own website, social pages or business profile (basis: legitimate interests, assessed and documented in a Legitimate Interests Assessment). We only publish business-context details: trading name, work contact details, business address and service information — never private information.

Forms

When you apply for a listing, suggest a business, or ask for a correction or removal, we use what you send only to handle that request. Form submissions are processed by our form provider Formspark and are not used for marketing. The forms also run a Cloudflare Turnstile spam check, which sends your browser's IP address and a challenge token to Cloudflare to confirm you are not a bot. It sets no tracking cookies and is not used to profile you. Neither is used for marketing.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, object to us processing it, or ask us to delete it. For listings the fastest route is the remove my listing form — objections and removal requests are actioned within five working days. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and analytics

No analytics are loaded and no analytics cookies are set until you allow them. You are asked once, on your first visit; until you answer, no request to Google is made at all. If you allow it we use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation on and the advertising signals switched off — we run no advertising and share nothing for ad targeting or personalisation. The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the cookie button in the corner of any page; the cookies it set are then deleted.

Google acts as our processor for that data and may transfer it outside the UK under its own safeguards. Two other things load only when they are needed: the optional Google map on listing pages, which loads — and sets Google cookies — only if you press "Load map", and the Cloudflare Turnstile spam check on the two forms. The cookies page lists every cookie by name and what it does.

How long we keep things

Listing information stays published while the listing is live and is deleted on removal. Form submissions are kept only as long as needed to handle the request, then deleted.
