Cookies
Nothing is loaded until you choose. You can change that choice at any time.
What happens on your first visit
Manchester Locals is a static site and needs no cookies to work. On your first visit you are asked once whether analytics are allowed. Until you answer, no analytics script is fetched and no analytics cookie is set — the request to Google is not made at all, rather than made and then ignored.
Strictly necessary
One cookie, cc_cookie, records the choice you made here so you are not asked again on every page. It is set by this site, contains only your preference, and identifies nothing about you. It cannot be turned off, because without it the question would return on every page load.
Analytics — only if you say yes
If you allow it, we load Google Analytics 4 to see which trades, towns and listings people actually look for. That is how we decide what to add next. IP anonymisation is on, and the advertising signals are explicitly switched off: we run no ads and share nothing for ad targeting or personalisation.
It sets two cookies, both lasting up to two years:
_ga— tells returning visits apart from new ones._ga_*— keeps the current session joined up across pages.
Turn analytics off later and those cookies are deleted rather than left to expire on their own. You can read what Google does with the data in Google's own notice.
Maps you choose to load
Listing pages show a map placeholder rather than a map. The map itself comes from Google and loadsonly if you press "Load map" — at which point Google may set its own cookies under Google's cookie policy. If you would rather it did not, use "Get directions" instead, which just opens Google Maps in a new tab.
The spam check on our forms
The listing form and the removal form run a Cloudflare Turnstile check to keep bots out. It is configured not to issue a clearance cookie and does not track you across sites.
Changing your mind
Use the cookie button in the bottom-left corner of any page, or the button below. Withdrawing consent is exactly as easy as giving it.
